NOSTALGIA Exhibition. 

I spent all of my childhood holidays in Bridlington, My parents had a little chalet in Bridlington near the beach, as a child, I found it magical.

 As an adult, I’ve reflected a lot about those days,   the freedom of mind nothing to think about apart from walks on the beach, competitions between my brother and I who was going to dig the biggest hole on the beach or make the biggest sandcastle endless days colouring in.

 

For years I have wanted to take my easel to the same beach and paint.  This summer I made it happen.

I wanted to capture the energy of the beach, I painted to the sound and rhythm of the ocean, the nattering of folk walking past, and the energy of dogs and their owners.

One day it was foggy I could hardly see anything but I found beauty in the shades of the fog.  

 

The first pieces I created were a little tight, but when I relaxed into my flow my work became more abstract and playful.

I created the framed collection using oil pastels, I enjoyed the texture of the oils on my hands, and the colours are vibrant you might see some grains of sand embedded in the work.
